Support Overview

At Lancaster Girls’ Grammar School, we are committed to providing a caring, supportive environment where every student feels known, valued, and able to thrive. Our pastoral system ensures that each child receives the guidance, encouragement, and care they need throughout their time with us.

Our Approach to Pastoral Care

We believe that wellbeing and academic success go hand in hand. Our pastoral care focuses on building positive relationships, supporting emotional and social development, encouraging resilience and confidence, and ensuring every student feels safe and included. We work closely with families to provide consistent, compassionate support.

Who Supports Your Child

Every student is supported by a network of staff who work together to ensure their wellbeing:

Form Tutors – the first point of contact for day to day support and guidance.

Heads of Year – overseeing progress, behaviour, and pastoral needs.

Pastoral Support Team – offering additional help with wellbeing, friendships, and personal challenges.

Senior Leaders – ensuring a whole school approach to care and safeguarding.

Working in Partnership With Families

We value strong communication with parents and carers. Families are encouraged to contact us whenever they have concerns, and we work collaboratively to support each student’s needs. Our aim is to build a trusting partnership that helps every child flourish.

Additional Support

We offer a range of targeted support for students who may need extra help, including:

  • Wellbeing and mental health support

  • SEND provision

  • Safeguarding support

  • Attendance guidance

  • Access to external agencies when appropriate

If You Need Help

If you have concerns about your child’s wellbeing or would like to speak to someone, please contact their Form Tutor or Head of Year. We are here to help and committed to ensuring every student feels supported throughout their journey at LGGS.
