We offer a wide variety of opportunities so that all students are supported to develop their leadership qualities, whether this be as part of the Sixth Form Leadership Team or the Sports Team, membership of the School Council or as an academic or personal mentor for a younger student in school.
We have numerous extra-curricular societies, all of which are student-led, and the success of the strong House system at LGGS is due to the leadership, energy and commitment of the Sixth Form House Captains who lead and inspire younger students to take part in events such as the school’s Performing Arts Festival, the Music Festival, and Sports Day.
We very much enjoyed meeting everyone who spent the day with us on our Sixth Form Taster Day and we wish you all the very best with your studies as you prepare for your GCSE exams.
Welcome from our Head Girl
Looking back at my time at LGGS, I can see how much my confidence and attitude towards a challenge has developed. Personally, I’ve been given an abundance of wonderful opportunities both to develop myself academically and personally, which is why I am so proud to be Head Girl, and to represent this incredible school.
What makes LGGS so special is our wonderful community, which allows for experiences completely unique to our school. Here in our Sixth Form, some of my favourite memories have been working with my peers and younger students, whether that be as a leader, taking part in Musical Festival or Performing Arts Festival, or sharing the stage with the wider school in our annual productions. Here at LGGS there is something for everyone, and if you think there is something missing then you can simply start your own society or club, for yourself and likeminded students. Nothing is impossible here. Within extracurriculars at LGGS, there is an array of leadership opportunities, which allow students to develop their confidence and leadership abilities: key skills for their future away from LGGS.
LGGS is renowned for its incredible academic success and the support throughout your A-level years, both in lessons and pastorally, will enable you to achieve all your goals. The teaching staff genuinely want you to succeed, so they will give their all to ensure every student achieves their potential. If you are struggling, your teachers will not hesitate to give you one-to-one help whenever you need it. We have lunch time drop-in sessions for practically every subject, where you can get help from teachers on a topic you may be finding tricky, or simply just to reinforce your subject understanding. This is very helpful, especially at the start of your A-levels, where the change in the style of learning might initially seem a little daunting.
Joining LGGS Sixth Form will provide you with unparalleled opportunities, support and fulfilment. There is an uplifting and powerful energy in the Sixth Form which makes everyone feel welcomed and included. Joining LGGS, is the best possible decision you can make for your post-16 education due to its countless opportunities for academic exploration and personal development. I hope you join us, whether that be from LGGS or somewhere different, as everyone who comes here, no matter where they come from, is given the opportunity to thrive and achieve.
We can’t wait to welcome you into our Sixth Form Community.
