We offer a wide variety of opportunities so that all students are supported to develop their leadership qualities, whether this be as part of the Sixth Form Leadership Team or the Sports Team, membership of the School Council or as an academic or personal mentor for a younger student in school.
The Sixth Form also offers numerous extra-curricular societies, all of which are student-led, and the success of the strong House system at LGGS is due to the leadership, energy and commitment of the Sixth Form House Captains: each year they lead and inspire students in KS3 and KS4 to take part in events such as the school’s Performing Arts Festival, the Music Festival, and Sports Day. We know that our younger students are inspired to be the best they can be by our wonderful Sixth Form leaders, and we hope they will soon be steeping into those shoes themselves when they choose to join LGGS Sixth Form.
Welcome from our Head Girl
Since Year 7, LGGS has inspired me to take up leadership roles and challenge myself wherever I can, which is why it is such a privilege to now be Head Girl. The opportunities this school offers in all areas are unparalleled, and the school community really is just that– a place where people look out for one another, full of friendly faces.
When I was in lower school, older students helped and supported me, and that has inspired me to do the same. I’ve taken part in the mentoring of younger students and have helped organise events such as the Performing Arts Festival. These experiences have been so rewarding and they have given me lasting memories and valuable skills that I’ll carry with me long after Sixth Form.
There are many societies and extra-curricular clubs for you to get involved in, there really is something for everyone, and if you think anything is missing then you could set up a new society yourself!  Community spirit is such a key part of the ethos here at LGGS and these extracurricular experiences not only help students to develop leadership skills for the future, but also to build friendships that will last a lifetime.
LGGS has an outstanding academic reputation, which speaks for itself: there is no better place to develop a passion for the subjects you love. A broad and deep understanding of your A-level subjects is encouraged and supported by enthusiastic teachers and this will help you to be prepared for your future journey, beyond ‘our small world on the hill’. At the same time, the school places great importance on student wellbeing. You are supported throughout your time in the Sixth Form not just academically, but personally too, so you can stay happy and confident in your studies.
The transition to A-level studies may seem daunting, especially if LGGS is new to you. At the start of Year 12 I had my own questions about the step up from GCSEs, but with the incredibly friendly and helpful Sixth Form staff the transition was a smooth one. The Sixth Form is a fresh start for everyone, no matter where you’ve come from - whether you’ve been at LGGS since Year 7 or you’re joining us from another school, you will definitely find your place here.
Choosing LGGS Sixth Form is one of the best decisions you will make. From personal growth to academic success, you’ll be supported every step of the way. We can’t wait to welcome you into our Sixth Form!
