September 2027 entry
The first step in your application journey to LGGS Sixth Form is to come to our Sixth Form Open Evening on Wednesday 4th November. This will take place between 5.30 and 7.30 pm, with talks by the Head of Sixth Form and student leaders at 5.45, 6.15 and 6.45.
This is followed by our Sixth Form Taster Day on Tuesday 19th January, which is an opportunity for all students - both those currently at LGGS and those thinking about coming to us for Yaer 12, to spend the day in school together and try out the subjects they are interested in studying at A-level.
Note that there is no entrance exam for our Sixth Form, but students need to achieve grade 6 at GCSE in at least 5 subjects, and grade 6 in the subjects they wish to study at A level. They also need to achieve grade 4 in English and Maths. The document below has further details for individual subjects.

Most students study three A-level subjects, with a small number choosing to study four. In order to be eligible to study four A-levels you will need to achieve at least four subjects at grade 8 or above at GCSE.

You will need to apply online using Applicaa, which will be open for applications shortly. We do advise that you visit our Sixth Form Open Evening before applying, and some people prefer to wait until they have attended our Taster Day in January before making their final A-level subject choices.
Please make sure that you apply by our application deadline. While we can sometimes accept late applications, your subject choices will then need to fit with the Option Blocks for us to be able to offer you a place.
After you submit your application form you will be made a provisional offer. This will be subject to your meeting our general entrance requirements and any additional subject-specific requirements.
All students who apply to our Sixth Form from schools other than LGGS have an Advice and Guidance Meeting during the Spring Term with a senior member of staff where we discuss with you your A-level subject choices. This is an informal meeting which is intended to ensure you make the right choices and give you the opportunity to ask any questions you might have. This meeting will be held online, for your convenience.
You will also be invited to our Sixth Form Induction Day on Thursday 24th June 2027, after the GCSE exams. This will be a great opportunity to meet other students and get to know the Sixth Form staff.

Sixth Form Induction Day
