Apprenticeship Week 2026 has been an inspiring one at LGGS, filled with invaluable insights, real‑world experiences, and the continued support of our generous alumnae community.
This week, we were delighted to welcome Emily Taylor back to LGGS to speak to our Sixth Form students about her Degree Apprenticeship at BAE Systems. Emily joined LGGS in Year 12 and successfully secured her apprenticeship after completing her A-levels last summer. Emily shared practical, honest advice on how students can stand out in the highly competitive apprenticeship application process. She also spoke about the Women in Engineering Insights Experience she took part in, a programme run by BAE that gave her a closer look into engineering careers and helped strengthen her application. This experience proved incredibly valuable for Emily, offering both networking opportunities and a deeper understanding of the company’s work and culture.
To mark Apprenticeship Week, our Sixth Form students have been exploring the growing opportunities available through degree apprenticeships. Mae and Husna, two of our Year 13 students, spoke to both Year 12 and 13 about their own application journeys. They offered thoughtful guidance on researching companies, the importance of networking, and how building a professional profile can elevate an application. Their advice has already sparked motivating conversations across the Sixth Form.
As we approach half-term, several of our Year 12 students are preparing to begin work experience placements in investment banking, drawing on our strong connections in the field. This experience will introduce them to the world of Finance, Banking and Investment, and on completion, students will earn a Level 4 Diploma in Trading & Financial Market Analysis—a remarkable first step for anyone considering a future in finance.
We remain deeply grateful to our alumnae who return to LGGS to share their experiences. Their stories open windows into the world that awaits our students after Sixth Form, demonstrating just how far their ambition and hard work can take them. At LGGS Sixth Form, we are proud to support students at the beginning of these exciting journeys. We look forward to watching them continue to grow, aim high, and achieve great things.
