Spanish Exchange 2026

Our Spanish exchange students returned home safely after an unforgettable visit filled with exploration, learning and new friendships. From the moment they landed, they immersed themselves in the landscape, culture and history of La Vall D’Uixó and beyond.

Exploring La Vall D’Uixó

The trip began with a scenic introduction to the town. Students hiked through the hills surrounding La Vall, taking in sweeping views before reaching the chapel of San Antonio. Along the way, they learned about the region’s distinctive herbs and plants, gaining a deeper appreciation of the local environment.

A guided tour of La Vall followed, including a visit to the impressive Roman Aqueduct and a climb up the tower of La Iglesia de la Asunción. The panoramic views made the effort worthwhile and offered a unique perspective on the town’s heritage.

A Day in Vibrant Valencia

Another highlight of the exchange was a full day in Valencia. The morning began with students joining lessons at their partner school, including a fascinating session on Ancient Egypt.

The afternoon was dedicated to exploring some of the city’s most iconic sights:

  • El Micalet: Students climbed the famous tower for an incredible 360-degree view across Valencia’s historic centre.
  • Mercado Central: A walk through one of Europe’s largest fresh food markets gave them a taste of local life and flavours.
  • Museo de Artes y Ciencias: They wandered around the spectacular modern complex, whose architecture was inspired by the skeleton of a whale.

The day ended with some shopping, souvenir hunting and plenty of opportunities to practise their Spanish.

Final Adventures and Farewell

As their visit drew to a close, the students continued to discover the rich culture of La Vall D’Uixó. A trip to the Cuevas de San José took them deep underground, where they glided along Europe’s longest navigable subterranean river and experienced the magical atmosphere of the caves.

A lively farewell party brought everyone together to celebrate new friendships. With a late flight home, the group enjoyed a little extra time to explore, squeezing in a fascinating visit to the Segarra Shoe Museum. Here, they learned how shoemaking shaped the history and economy of La Vall.

Their final afternoon was filled with sunshine, final conversations, hugs and heartfelt goodbyes before they began their journey home.

Looking Ahead

We are incredibly proud of the way our students embraced every opportunity during the exchange. They returned with new knowledge, greater confidence and strong connections with their Spanish partners.

We now look forward to welcoming our exchange partners to LGGS in March and continuing this valuable cultural experience.

¡Adiós amigos españoles! Hasta pronto.
