LGGS Young Musician of the Year 2020 Winners

7th Jul 2020

‘Young Musician of the Year’ is one of the lesser-known & best-loved musical events in the school calendar but one that we think is so crucial to the development of our students’ musical skills.

It enables young musicians to show us what they have been working on in a supportive and creative atmosphere and every year we are always so impressed by what we hear and see! It’s for this reason that we couldn’t possibly let it be cancelled this year… so it moved online!
Participants were asked to send us a video of their performances, which were then judged by Mr Swannell, Mrs Martin and the Assistant Heads for the Arts.
The abundance of talent which has been displayed in this year's entries, despite what is arguably a difficult and unpredictable time, just goes to show that the level of musical ability in LGGS is truly something to be proud of. As a team, we have loved every performance and are excited to release a selection of the winners’ pieces at the end of the term for the wider school community, as we are unable to provide a concert this year.
Thank you so much to everyone who entered and for keeping LGGS music alive and keeping everyone's spirits up - you all have incredible talent and courage.
