Physics
In Physics we aim to develop in students a curiosity and a fascination with the physical world, from the tiniest sub-atomic particles, to galaxies and black holes. We want our students to ask questions, and to develop the skills, understanding and knowledge to set about answering them.
We have high expectations of all our students. We aim for them to fulfill their potential and acquire skills and ways of thinking which will be invaluable in their futures, whether or not they pursue scientific careers. We organise visits and guest speakers and many of our sixth form students undertake project work with researchers at Lancaster University. Our courses are very practical, and we use ICT extensively, for datalogging, modelling and research. Physics is integral to the year seven and eight science course and is taken by all students at GCSE. It is a popular A-level subject and many of our students go on to study Physics and related subjects at university.
