Welcome back after what I hope was a restful summer. The AS modules are over and the results are in. It is now the final push before you leave LGGS next summer. Before the break you will have started deciding whether to apply to University or not and hopefully by now you will have a much clearer idea of what you want to do and where you want to go. This is a really exciting time, visiting universities, completing the UCAS form and making final choices. However, one very large word of caution you still need to get the grades to achieve your goal and A2 studies in Year 13 are extremely important, so don’t forget to maintain the focus and work hard. As Year 13 students you are now the role models for the rest of the school, in charge of the Houses, prefects to Lower school forms and often guides for school tours. These responsibilities are a fantastic opportunity for you to display your maturity and you often do so with aplomb. So as you progress through your final year at LGGS don’t forget to enjoy your last Children in Need and Carol Service and before you know it, the Leaver’s Ball.

Welcome

We would like to extend a very warm welcome to all our students in Year 12. It must seem like a long time ago that you considered your options for
A Level study and I very much hope that you now all feel part of the Sixth Form here at LGGS.

The timetable is now in full swing and you have truly moved out of the safe harbour waters.

There is so much advice that I could give you at this stage but two things of importance do spring to mind. Firstly keep an eye on how many hours you are working in paid employment out of school, we advise between five and seven maximum. University entrance is getting more competitive by the day, you will need to know you have done your very best in all your subjects and for many of you your exams will begin in January. Secondly keep a diary of your commitments and work deadlines, the sooner you become an expert at scheduling your appointments and managing your time, the easier life will be. There are many exciting days ahead full of opportunity and new adventures, seize everything that comes your way and enjoy every moment of each day.
Mrs K Shaw Head of Year 12

Your Form Tutors are there to guide you through each day and you can find us in the Sixth Form Office.
