There are two school councils one for years 7-11 and a
Sixth Form Council.
YEAR 7-11 SCHOOL COUNCIL
Each form elects a representative who serves on the school council for a period of twelve months. The change-over period for representatives are staggered so that some pupils are elected in January and some in September.
Pupils bring issues and concerns to the table on behalf of their form, they meet each Friday in the school's meeting room. Minutes are taken of the meeting by the Chair and Secretary and these minutes filter back to the whole school and are displayed in each classroom.
The Chair and Secretary are ex-officio, previous council members, and are elected from Years 9, 10 or 11, they also undertake their roles for a twelve month period. Each week the council meets with Mrs Jackie Cahalin, Headteacher, for discussion and with the aim of influencing decisions which benefit all pupils.
The Council have consulted with staff on issues including the
Journey to School Policy, planning decisions and most recently an initiative which involved the whole school, staff and pupils, who were asked to contribute recipes towards a Healthy Cook Book which will soon be on sale,
