When I spoke to all
the girls involved, they said they are so happy
with what they have achieved so far and
that they have loved every second of it.

Fieldfare Kielder Challenge

The Fieldfare Kielder Challenge is an outdoor problem solving competition for school pupils, who enter as a team of eight; four
with and four without disabilities. After their success last year,
LGGS joined forces once again with the Loyne School to compete
in the 2011 competition held at Talkin Tarn Country Park.

The team were set five challenges throughout the day, from
blind fold mines and spiders web to nature venture and hook a duck.  Throughout each task, officials watched on with clipboards and marked the teams on the following criteria: 12% performance, 44% teamwork, 44% planning and evaluating.

Throughout the day, the LGGS and Loyne School team began to understand why the competition is called the 'Kielder Challenge'!
To understand, complete and to keep everyone involved and
working as a team in all the tasks was a challenge that the team coped with very well.

Overall the team came a fantastic second place coming very close runners up to the winning team from Lancashire. A massive congratulations must go to the 8 members of the team and Debbie Barratt who organised preparation sessions before the event and lead the team on the day.
