This year, LGGS girls donated our Harvest gifts to the Lancaster and District Homeless Action Service, LADHAS, based on Edward Street in Lancaster.
During the Harvest Service, Mrs Sue Widden, Chair of LADHAS, spoke about the problems faced by the homeless in and around Lancaster and about the needs of the centre. At present their temporary shelter is in a drastic state of disrepair, therefore they are appealing for the donation of a building in which to continue their much needed work.
The Harvest Service, lead by Mrs Cahalin, Headteacher, and the Head Girl gave us a moment of reflection on the opportunities we have and so often take for granted. Imogen's piano solo "Streets of London" guided our reflection and Year 10 pupils captured the spirit of the moment with their reading of poetry written by homeless people.
Many thanks are also due to Mr Truslove and the Senior Choir who sang the celtic blessing "Deep Peace of the Running Wave." Mrs Breaks' Harvest flower arrangement set the scene beautifully for this moment of reflection in the school's busy calendar.
