Teaching Style Students are taught through the median of lectures, discussion, practical skilled development and independent investigation in four well resourced ICT suites, featuring a minimum of 28 laptops, interactive whiteboards and various hardware to support learning.
Who can do it?  A GCSE grade C is required to study A level ICT and is the minimum entry for the course.  Students who have studied vocational courses require a high distinction, as the theory element of this course is demanding.

What will you be learning? Today’s students are digital natives and this course brings the study of ICT into the 21st century striving to keep young people at the forefront of technological advances.  An A level in ICT is one that will challenge, motivate and excite students, encouraging them to become active investigators with a full understanding of when, why and how to use ICT appropriately.

 Unit 2 aims to develop students’ understanding of the use of ICT in society.  Your knowledge of ICT terms and concepts will be em-bedded and extended enabling students to discuss the issues and consequences of living in a digital world.
Unit 3, the first unit within the A2 course, looks at the fast changing subject of ICT, including developments in technology and ICT system capabilities. 
Students are required to formulate reasoned arguments and to communicate these through presentations and debates on topics such as living in a surveillance society and the ethical and moral impacts of the use of ICT. 
Unit 4 provides students with the opportunity to complete a substantial project involving the production of an ICT system extending students functional ICT skills ready for higher education or industry.  The system will be fully

The Course The AS course provides students with the opportunity to develop their knowledge and understanding of the development of ICT systems through practical experience.  Students will have the opportunity to be truly creative in exploring a range of ICT options to solve problems. 

In Unit 1 you will examine the analysis, design, implementation, testing and evaluation of ICT solutions and look at a range of issues relating to the use of ICT systems.
