Our study of history at Key Stage 3 is an exciting roller-coaster ride. It is taught through a combination of overview, thematic and depth studies. We aim to ensure that all pupils can identify and understand the major events, changes and developments in British, European and world history by covering the medieval, early modern, industrial and twentieth-century periods.

"In the History Department we are always learning and
there is a very real sense of being on a journey
of discovery in
skills and knowledge"

Students will have approximately five major pieces of work to complete each year in Key Stage 3. Marking reflects the National Curriculum Levels
Text books
These are issued at the start of each year to students in Key Stage 3 and act primarily as a research resource. The History Department Virtual Learning Environment is a vital stopping off point for materials and information.
How Parents Can Help
History comes alive in fiction and film. There are so many good historical novels to read!
Parents can also keep an eye on progress through the course and through the National Curriculum Levels via the progress sheets held at the back of their class books.
For easy detection the History
class books are yellow and the progress sheets for year 7 are yellow, for year 8 blue and for
year 9 green.
