Online Safety

The Internet will be a part of your daughter's daily life. They’ll adapt quickly to new technology and use it to communicate, socialise and create. Most teenagers have access to the Internet using a smartphone or tablet, and use a wide range of social networking sites like Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat and Instagram as a vital part of their social relationships.

Thinkuknow is delivered by the National Crime Agency's CEOP Command.  There is advice about protecting your child from abuse online.  What to do if you are concerned about your child and how to report an incident.  There are guides to parental control setting and sexting, social media sites, online chat forums and talking to your child about these areas.

Digital Parenting Vodophone's Digital Parenting website and magazines offer parents information and advice about the latest digital technologies and the kind of challenges children and teenagers might face in their digital world.

Internet Matters is an excellent website, it can help you understand potential risks and provides advice on action that can be taken to ensure your daughters are safe online.

Staying Safe Online (see below) is a leaflet which has been compiled by Fylde, Lancaster & Wyre Children's Partnership Board.
The range and complexity of today's technology can often seem bewildering for many parents and carers, particularly with older children who may seem permanently 'connected'. This leaflet provides a list of recommended resources which outline some of the potential risks and provides supporting information for parents.
