Lancaster Girls' Grammar School's Governing Body is made up of the following members, who bring considerable expertise and knowledge to the governance of the school. 

The committees meet at least termly, and there are six full Governing Body Meetings each academic year.

SARAH BAIN

Chair of Governors and member of the Finance
and Audit Committee

Sarah is a former pupil and parent of daughter at
LGGS. Graduated from Jesus College Oxford with a
degree in Engineering.
Director of Commercial Banking for NatWest working
locally in Cumbria, Lancaster and the Fylde coast. 

Sarah Randall Paley

SARAH RANDALL-PALEY

Appointed Governor in 2011.  Chair of Finance Committee.

Graduated from Nottingham University with a degree
in English Studies. Qualified Chartered Accountant -
trained with KPMG in London and a Fellow of the
Institute of Chartered Accountants (FCA). 
Director of Finance at Lancaster University with
a £350M turnover. 
Married with one son.  

Alison Whittaker

ALISON WHITTAKER   

Chair of the Students, Parents and Community Committee

As an old girl of LGGS, parent of former pupil and daughter of a former pupil, my family have a long association with the school. I became a governor in 1998, worked for National Westminster Bank for ten years.
After a career break, become involved in education working in several schools as a school secretary. Have also served on the IT committee, Health and Safety committee and the Sixth Form Centre Fundraising committee.

Gill R

GILLIAN RAWLINSON   

I qualified as Chartered Physiotherapist from the
University of Liverpool in 1997. I have primarily worked
in the NHS and within academia, teaching physiotherapy.
I undertook a fellowship at Health Education England
and am now Assistant Director for Education and
Workforce at the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy.
I am in the final stages of a PhD exploring health
behaviours.
I have three children; two boys and a daughter who
attends LGGS.

ASIF TIMOL    

Member of the Academic Committee

I read Law at the University of Liverpool and later
qualified as a solicitor. I head a legal practice in
Greater Manchester focusing on business strategy,
day to day management and operations as well
specialising in employment law, regulatory and
compliance matters.
I have a daughter currently in year 8 at LGGS.

ALINA

ALINA KING 

Vice-Chair 

I am an ‘old girl’ of LGGS, and both my daughters now attend the school.
I currently work for BAE Systems as a Head Of Human Resources, having worked in a number of industries in HR/Employee Relations roles.
I did my undergraduate degree at Newcastle University, and have subsequently undertaken postgraduate qualifications in HR, and a Masters degree in Industrial Relations and Employment Law.

Sarah Shepherd

SARAH SHEPHERD

Member of the Academic Committee

I graduated from St. Martin's College, Lancaster in 2000 with a BA in Primary Education with QTS. Since then I have been working in primary education, as a classroom teacher, deputy head and more recently a teacher educator. I completed my Masters Degree from UCL in Education and International Development. Currently, I am a lecturer of Education at the University of Cumbria where I teach on the undergraduate and postgraduate primary teaching degrees. 
I have a daughter in Year 7 at LGGS.

MICHELLE TO  

I have a daughter in Year 7 at LGGS.

I completed my MPhil and PhD degrees in Experimental Psychology at the University of Cambridge (Darwin College) and am currently working as a Lecturer in Psychology at Lancaster University.
