LGGS COMMUNITY

Lancaster Girls’ Grammar School is proud to work with our local community.

At LGGS we aim to contribute positively to our local community as well as encouraging fundraising and projects on global issues. Over the last twelve months LGGS students have fundraised for a number of local charities including:

Cancer Care
The Samaritans
St John’s Hospice
Children in Need is a major fundraising event in school and we have been recognised by the BBC as one of their main schools for fundraising.
International Week raises money for Medicine sans Frontiers.
Our sports leaders support younger pupils at Dallas Road primary school at lunchtimes.
Our choir sings every year at Blackburn Cathedral at a special Christmas service
Many sixth formers volunteer as part of their enrichment programme
Charity cake bake stalls and numerous other fundraising opportunities organised by students of all year groups.
Regular food bank collections and special toiletries collection for the Women’s Refuge at Christmas
LGGS is one of the leading Duke of Edinburgh Award centres in the North

At LGGS we work with a number of local groups including Northern Power and Fairtrade as well as national initiatives such as the Youth Sports Trust. This year we are focusing on building links with EducAid, an education charity in Sierra Leone,

As one of the largest Duke of Edinburgh Centres in the country, we have hundreds of students leading and participating in community events in and around Lancaster, as well as giving up their time to volunteer.
